Due to the increasing demand for mobile phones and mobile phone related activities, most mobile phone companies take into account the capacity of battery they install for their devices. Nowadays you can find a phone with a battery of about 7000mAh some even more and can last days before recharging. How often do you recharge your smartphone? The answer to this questions differ from
person to person and also from country to country, a person living in a developed country where electricity supply is 24/7 can only bother about electricity cost, they can charge at any time. However, a person in Nigeria, for example, will have to use any slightest opportunity to charge his phone or better still get a phone with a large battery capacity.

I was doing a research sometimes ago on types of smartphones used in Nigeria and how the users felt about the battery, what I discovered was that most smartphones users of some of the top brands complain of battery such brands as the Samsung and iPhone. The bottom line is, with this rate at which technology is going, we need devices with large battery capacity and that can last days without recharging.
The charge holding power of batteries decreases under different conditions
Most smartphone companies employ the use of Lithium-ion battery for powering their devices, this is because they are affordable and provides the expected solution for most mobile phone functions. The charging capacity of a battery decreases daily, so, the more you recharge your device, the more its capacity to retain charge decreases.
The age of a battery is a very important factor, in fact, the most important, as it can affect the maximum charge the battery can hold. A study shows how that a battery with a starting capacity of 88-94% battery life can decrease to about 73-84% after 250 recharging cycles.
Modern batteries are mostly affected by internal resistance and self-discharge, even though, the age of a battery cannot be controlled, however, other factors can be monitored to cancel the effect of age
How to protect your battery
Users of smartphones mostly think that full battery discharge time to time would be the best way to take care of their device battery by making it last longer, however, that is not the case. Instead, ensuring your battery is not fully discharged and not constantly charging is one way to protect your battery.
However, allowing your battery to fully discharge at least once in 3 months will help your phone recalibrate the battery meter for more accurate reading. When the temperature of your battery is high, it causes it to discharge faster, so, keeping your battery temperature low is key. This is the reason why most phones that get hot when in use, have poor battery life.
Ways to reduce battery consumption
Ensure your phone screen display/backlight is set to auto off after 1minutes at most also, disable the vibrate functionality. You can also decrease power consumption by disabling keypad sound.
Furthermore, under connectivity, check that all are disabled when not in use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and hotspot. When they are enabled they consume a lot of battery juice.
Conserve more charge by disabling your internet connection such as EDGE, 3G, 4G and more, once not in use. Also, GPS drains a lot of battery juice disable it when not in use.
Battery management applications
When I started out with the android smartphone, I couldn’t comprehend how an application can help extend a phones battery life until now. What these apps do is that they control the number of applications running on your device, they automatically close any app not in use although it all depends on your settings. These apps are available on Google Play store free for download. Get them test and drop your review.
They also restrict internet connections between apps, that’s all nothing magical.
Ensure you keep your phone cool
As we said earlier, the higher your phone's temperature the more your battery charge drains. Some suggest keeping your phone in the freezer for phones with a non-removable battery, however, this is a very bad practice as your device can get damaged. Charging less keeps your battery temperature low.
